A Global Movement for Women & Non-Binary Artists Makes Its African Debut at ARMC 2025
ARMC is proud to welcome Lady of the House to South Africa as the international platform officially expands its reach to the continent, with Money Badoo stepping in as the brand’s first ambassador for the region.
For Laila McKenzie, founder of Lady of the House, the expansion into South Africa is both a natural evolution and a mission fulfilled.
“We’re beyond excited to expand into South Africa with Money Badoo at the helm. The energy, talent, and cultural innovation coming out of this region is undeniable. It’s time the global industry gave it the platform it deserves.”
Founded by Laila McKenzie in the UK in 2021, Lady of the House began as a groundbreaking book honouring 150 women shaping the global dance music scene. In just a few short years, it has grown into a multi-dimensional force, encompassing a record label, educational initiatives, cultural events, and global collaborations. With a mission rooted in empowerment, inclusion, and innovation, the platform has become a catalyst for change in electronic music. Now, that wave is coming to South Africa.
South Africa Joins the Global Lady of the House Network
Following its expansion into Latin America in 2024, Lady of the House now turns its focus to the African continent, officially launching in Johannesburg this May. At the forefront of this momentous chapter is none other than Money Badoo, who joins the movement not only as Lady of the House’s first South African ambassador, but also as their first local artist signed to the label. Known for her authentic sound, bold lyricism, and genre-defying approach, she represents the vibrant spirit of South Africa’s next generation of music leaders.
“Being part of Lady of the House means standing on the shoulders of giants while carving space for the next wave of greatness,” says Badoo. “South Africa is rich with raw talent and deep stories – this is about making sure the world hears them, and hears them loud.”
Her debut release under the Lady of the House label is set to drop soon, bringing her unique sound to both South African and international stages.
