Welcome to season 2 of #ReggiesMusicRush, where we dive deeper into the heart of the music industry, bringing you exclusive interviews with groundbreaking artists. Kicking off this season, we’re thrilled to introduce Roger Snow, stylised as RGRSNW, an innovative Alternative R&B and Afrobeat artist from Pretoria, South Africa. Known for his unique fusion of urban R&B and distinctly African sounds, RGRSNW continually pushes the boundaries of his genre, creating a fresh and dynamic musical experience.

Hey there mister, thank you for doing this interview with us. I’m gonna head right into the questions we have for you. What initially inspired you to write your latest single?

“I went through a break up and I had messed up too many times. So I wrote this song for her.”

Can you describe the narrative or concept behind the song’s lyrics?

“The concept is basically acknowledging my wrongs, my faults and all. Yet still asking her to wait for me. The song is basically about asking for forgiveness even when you know you don’t deserve it.”

How does this single differ from your previous work in terms of style or theme?
“It doesn’t really differ, I’ve always been an RnB baby so it was just another day at the office. I have many different styles and I love to show that in my music We love RnB gents!

Were there any significant challenges or breakthroughs during the production?

“Not really, working with Baitu Manong , BlkMiddleChild and Imani Basquiat is always a good time. The song came about pretty naturally. Just on a random winter day after arguing with my now Ex”

My next question was going to be about collaboration but I’ve noticed that Imani Basquiat is one of your features, do you have any remarks about the collaboration ?

“ I mean Imani Basquiat haha is like my brother so yeah. We got a lot of music in the vault so stay tuned”

I’m a sucker for bromance, love to see it. What do you hope listeners will feel or understand from this song?

“I hope they understand that apologising to your loved ones is important. Even if it’s too late.”

Which emotions or experiences did you aim to express with this release?

“I hope they feel the regret and anguish I feel for doing what I did. I also hope they feel the love , even if it’s love lost or love found. I make my music about honest experiences in my life. Try to strip down my ego and be honest so those who relate know they’re not going through it alone.”

I’m ready to shed a tear, thank you for being vulnerable through your music. Did you incorporate any new techniques or musical elements in this single?

“BlkMiddleChild played the keys for the first time on a track. Which is dope , as well as incorporating a skit mid song to elevate the concept. That was pretty cool”

How important is visual art in representing the message of this song, if applicable?

“It is very important. Our visualiser came out about 2 weeks ago and has 17K views on YouTube. I think people love to see how an artist visually interpretes their songs. Shows them which settings to enjoy your music in.”

I actually watched it the next day it came out, I enjoyed the visuals. Lastly, How did your personal journey or experiences shape the creation of this piece?

“My personal journey shapes everything I do in music. I see music as my therapy. The most honest piece of myself and my life. I love painting pictures of my life using music. As well as painting pictures for others.”

Thank you so much for your time. As we wrap up another thrilling article of #ReggiesMusicRush, we’re reminded of the incredible talent and passion that drives our music scene.
