This year we are making a comeback and it’s one you don’t want to miss! The annual conference which takes place at the renowned HallMark House Hotel will reconvene on the 23 & the 24th of May 2023. This one of a kind experience we are curating will include a mix of local and international delegates this year’s focus territories include Zambia and Germany. A mix of workshops, activations, and finally performances which center around the urban and electronic music industries and the Afro-Euro connection both of these chart topping genres provide.
ARMC being a space for common ground has partnered up with Mtn Bushfire Festival, Mint Digital, Lift Airlines, to curate a well rounded experience for attendees with support on travel, as well as, workshop and activation curation, ( more partners to be announced)
With the conference comes the Ambassador Program which selects an eclectic mix of women who are making a noteworthy impact within their respective fields; from curating events that prioritise the safety and inclusion of LGBTQI people to ensuring that safe drinking water is accessible to all, the program seeks to reflect and represent different facets of the music industry and spotlight a diverse set of skill sets and passion projects that women are a part of. Showcasing their influence and impact on various communities and movements Without further ado, let us introduce you to the five women who aren’t just making waves on the internet but in real life!
Meet the Ambassadors
Megatronic – Dj, Culture Curator
Representing: Femme Fest
Always finding a way to provide a colorful palette or lyrics, melody, and stage dramatics, Megatronic has asserted herself into the global dance scene as a DJ, musician, and above all else, a vibrant culture producer. With over 20 years of self-taught industry experience under her belt, including time spent as a consultant, artist manager, and even a radio host, Megatronic has earned her stripes as one of the industry’s leading forces. As the founder of Femme Fest and Megatronic MGMT, the Dubai/London-based artist is constantly looking for ways to use her standing to lead the change that she’d like to see in the industry.
Fundi – Artist, Producer
Representing: Bridges for Music
Fundiswa Mbambani better known as Fundi was born and bred in the oldest township in Cape Town known as Langa, surrounded and inspired by musical legends and heroes such as Brenda Fasssie. Having drawn inspiration from all those legendary people, music became a calling to her.
She is a DJ, budding tour guide/ tourism entrepreneur, some-times isiXhosa teacher, intercultural expert, Bridges academy alumni and Langa local. Two of her biggest highlights being opening for the duo “GoldFish” in 2021 and then in 2022 playing sets at Amsterdam Dance Event.
Naimah Global – Artist, Activist
Representing: New Future Records (indie label)
Naimah, a Zambian Afro Fusion singer-songwriter residing in South Africa, has the ability to fuse her uniquely soothing vocals into different genres that resonate with urban and afro genres. This can be noted in her most recent RnB infused EP Goal Digger. Her refreshing writing ability has made way for her to collaborate with some of the finest musical talents in the Southern African region, including Grammy award winning producers and artists.
Her passions stretch beyond the music world as she has worked with her peers and started her own foundation, “New Future Foundation,” she currently serves on the board of The Makeba Center For Girls, a South African organisation that cares for underprivileged girls.
Namakau Star – Representing ARMC
Artist, Producer, Singer Songwriter
Rhema Stephanie Namakau Socika, popularly known as Namakau Star is a South African born singer-songwriter, rapper, speaker award winning copywriter and creative director. Namakau Star is an alternative RnB and Hip-Hop artist with a sharp pen and a refreshing vocal approach to music, she weaves words together with soulful melodies, switching effortlessly between lyricism and singing. Her creative abilities stretch far and wide as she is also a notable force as a creative in advertising and film. She often describes herself as a genre-bender, and her supporters call her the Vibe Goddess for her electrifying live performances.
Phelisa Community and Network Developer
Representing: Viva Con Agua
Phelisa is a representative of Viva Con Agua South Africa and her role within the organisation is Community and Network Developer she plays a hands-on role at, an organisation that inspires and connects all for water. This mission goes beyond raising funds but is deeply rooted in strategic education and awareness programs that seek to impact underserved communities in need of water as well as ensure that there is a legacy understanding how to further preserve water in these spaces. It is also a means to build stronger communities in South Africa, through storytelling, campaign work, and mobilising volunteers to contribute to actualizing the organisation’s mission, through the universal languages of Music, Art and Sport.
