This has been an eventful week. Let’s get this party started right away.

Spotify Greasy Tunes
On the first Saturday of July, the ARMC crew and the Paradise Africa crew both attended the debut of Spotify Greasy Tunes in the heart of Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

Greasy Tunes is a celebration of African music, cuisine, and culture. Guests can enjoy daily egg-cellent cuisine, podcast recordings, quiz evenings, DJ sets, and performances at the pop-up café from July 1st to July 30th. Week 1 highlighted Mint: Electronic Dance Music, Afrotech, House, and Gqom. Kamo Mailula, a member of our team, was asked to sit on a panel for Shiba Melissa Mazaza’s Spotify Masterclass. Check out Spotify Greasy Tunes for a unique blend of sounds, flavours, and chuckles.

The Basadi In Music Awards are hosting the Nando’s Emerging Artists and SAMRO Songwriters Workshop.
Msaki conducted the Nando’s Emerging Artists and SAMRO Songwriters Workshop, which was presented in cooperation with Basadi In Music on Wednesday.

The workshop was incredibly educational, teaching us how to generate memorable bursts of artistic expression. Information from SAMRO, CAPASSO, Trace South Africa, and SofnFree was provided to the attendees.

Voting for this year’s Basadi In Music Award nominees is still open. Please use this link to vote for your preferred categories and candidates. We extend our best wishes to all of the nominees. Come to the Joburg Theatre on August 12, 2023, for the annual awards ceremony.
